Default XC60 II (2017) Pollen Filter Replacement

Hello

Forgive me for what maybe a simple question; I am very new to Volvo’s having had VW and Audi’s for the past 20 years... I have just bought a UK RHD 2017 reg XC60 so the latest mkII version. Unfortunately we notice quite a diesel smoke smell in the car especially during start up. This is not surprising because I have always fitted Mann Frecious Plus cabin filters in our other cars which filter out PM2.5. I have just got one of these for the Volvo however I cannot find the location of the cabin air filter. I started on the passenger side, took off the panel just under and behind the glove box, pulled back the carpet and got my head right in there with a torch. To my surprise it was not clear where the cabin filter lives. I then did the same on the drivers side with no results either. Has anyone here changed the cabin filter on an XC60 II? I have searched the web with no results, all I can find is pre 2017 XC60 instructions.

Many thanks

I do not own an XC60 but its worth checking under the bonnet in the scuttle panel area for the filter housing, until someone who knows comes along.
Did you notice anything like what is in attached video in your search. (XC90)

Mann filters have, or did have up to a few weeks ago when I last looked one up, downloadable fitting guides for their cabin filters accessible from the vehicle application look up tool.

Thank you for the information - the Mann website does give you installation details and the filter is very easy to locate. It’s just under the glovebox area and there are two large plastic handles to turn which release the filter. Problem I now have is that the filter I have is the wrong one. Seems that Mann don’t make a FreciousPlus filter yet for the current XC60. So my search continues for a particulate cabin filter.

If I may ask- what’s so special about the Frecious Plus? If I understand correctly- it’s just an activated charcoal filter- just like the oem one..

The FreciousPlus is the only filter I have found that also filters particulates (PM2.5) and you really notice the difference - gone are the days of breathing in smelly diesel emissions. :-)

thats the same as the volvo one ... they have been using those charcoal based filters for the last 15 years . I would be concerned where the smell originates from ...
