Salvage Rebuilds on YouTube are doing a V60
I don’t know how to link the vid on here, but Salvage Rebuilds UK (one of the best car related YouTube channels) is doing a V60 with a skipped timing belt as a result of the wrong aux belt being fitted (6 ribs rather than 5, so was hanging off the pulleys).
They’ve diagnosed the issues but are looking to put it back through an auction as a mechanical issue. If it doesn’t fetch the right money, I suspect that they’ll fix it. I’d love to see this.

Quite a good programme, along with furious driving and Involved or something like it.
Be good if they fix it. James. |

I seriously hope so. Theirs had loss of compression on cylinder 1. I’d love to see how involved fixing this actually is. I suspect a lot of these are scrapped that could actually be saved.

There is a comment in the section about someone making a bespoke aux / fan belt cover which protects the cam belt on the D5 engines if the other belt fails and wraps around the cam. Allegedly a common problem? Can anyone confirm whether the cover is worth getting?

There have been threads covering this on here too. The parts are available on ebay for quite a lot of money. I’d suggest regularly inspecting the belts and changing for genuine ones strictly at the recommended intervals would be better use of cash.

Watch this video this evening seems like a poor design.

There are massive forces involved when the belt tangles and no one has tested this "Protection" device , do you get your money back if it doesn't work ?

They only had £800 in it so they probably got their money back when they put it through the auction. I can't see anything in the comments section of the video and I can find anything on their Insta page either.
