The low number of V90CC models somewhat surprises me.
Had it been available for a few years when we went shopping for a new car, I think the XC90 would have had
a hard time to be the car of choice.. Of course it's a matter of preference, when we compared the first XC90
to the XC70, I also found the XC70 the nicer looking, less imposing, more discreet car.

But alas only 5 seats and a poor load space due to the slope of the tailgate so not as practical for my use at least. It looks nice but if it still had the same load area/tailgate angle of the old XC70 it would so much more practicle.

No different engine, different interior, suspension, front end, well different everything but a better load area. After all it is an estate car not a hatchback. Same goes for my new XC90, the old version had a better load area with less of a slope to the tailgate and a wider load area.

Both new cars are very good but to me load area is disappointing in the V series.

The cargo space of the XC90 is indeed much bigger, ours even more so
since the volume of the absent seats of the third row is also available.

Maybe we are just a bunch of early adopters :-)

I guessed the CC version would be on the cards, but not till later this year or in 2019.

I am with you on that, although to be sure about my choice of replacement vehicle I have a V90CC booked for a 3 day test drive at the end of March. Kind of think that now I have enjoyed the space of the XC90 it will be difficult to go back......

Do you mean that the first XC90 had more cargo space?

Yes the old XC90 cargo area floor was 2" wider (48" wide) and the tailgate did not slope as much as the new XC90 giving more useful length at rear window height for larger items.

The new XC90 still has an excellent load space but not as large as the older model, I could get 48" wide sheets of board in my old one but not in this one.
My dog Scooby, in my profile photo had more rome in my old XC90, He was a big boy.

The specs seem to indicate otherwise.

Volume to roof – 2 seat / 5 seat / 7 seat mode, litres1,951 / 1,102 / 451

Old XC90:
Volume to glass line – rear seats up, litres249
Volume to glass line – 3rd row down, 2nd row up, litres615
Volume to roof – all rear seats down, litres1837
