I’ve been using Bluetooth tethering with my iPhone to get my XC60 (MY2018) connected to the internet and it’s been perfect, connects every time and just a few seconds after starting the car the ‘world’ symbol appears.

In the last two days this is not the case, I have re-paired the phone to no avail and the only way I can get the car to connect is by going into settings>communication>Bluetooth devices and then un-checking and re-checking the Bluetooth Internet Connection. Which is a royal PITA!

Does anyone have any solutions to get this working automatically again?

Strange. Does sound like an iPhone issues, so two thing:
1. Have you done an IOS iPhone update in the last 2 days?
2. Try an iPhone ‘Forced’ Reboot option that often clears up a few hanging data isssues.

I use android and there is a tick box in the settings "settings/more networks/tethering and mobile hotspot/bluetooth tethering" to allow bluetooth internet sharing, you should have a similar setting on ios. Check itvis ticked.

Glad the Forced Reboot option of your iPhone did the trick ........ so many people do not realise that this option is totally different from the normal Turn off/Restart option and as such is very productive in fixing those unexplained changes in your iPhone processes.
I normally do a Forced Reboot option on a regular weekly basis.
