Default Check Engine Light

This is 2 Litre car which has had the CEL showing for about a year and will not pass it's MOT this year.

There is no hissing sound when I remove the petrol cap and from reading American forums there should be a J pipe and a carbon canister. Looking underneath the car I can find the fuel filter but not the carbon canister or a J shaped pipe, where should I be looking for it?

Best wishes,

Sue.

Charcoal carbon canister is to do with EVAP system, why do you think this is the problem?
Have you got codes PO446 or Po453 ?
Canister should be located behind front bumper...iirc
