I think maybe you still need to find the source of your vacuum loss.
Your shut-off valve should move down quickly and stay closed for 3-4 seconds.

I had a look around for code 1806 and one thing I found was a bad connection to the boost solenoid.

However, if you are losing vacuum somewhere, it could be that causing the code.

You could try a second hand vacuum reserve tank off ebay

I don't know how it works but it must have some internal valves to separate the shut-off side from the turbo side.

Well Yesterday I decided to book it in at a friend's garage. He'll be looking over the car on Tuesday, so I'll likely drop it round on Monday evening after work. I just want a clear diagnosis, and he'll have the gear to get it all checked over.

Plus I've asked him to give the car a once over and see if there's anything else that needs to be brought to my attention. So I'm gonna wait for now, and see what he can come up with
