Default 2004 T6 Front Caliper bolt question.

Is there a definative answer to the size(s) and type of tool required to open the front caliber to change the pads please?

Its a UK 2004 T6 AWD and it's 17.5 inch discs.

What he said... there's no need to split the caliper.

Undo the allen bolts on the slider pins, remove them, clean them and apply a little rubber brake grease.

Ideally you should remove the carrier (two bolts holding it to the hub) and wire brush it so the new pads move freely.

PS - if you have 17.5" brake discs then you have a seriously modified car.... all XC90 Mk1 have 331mm brakes in the UK.

You might need a big bar on your socket (15mm I think) to release the carrier bolt, often they are put in with locktite.
The sliders are star drive (T30?) - i've had to use a combination of sockets and keys as room is limited behind the wheel hub.

Slide pins are 7mm Allen/Hex
Don't undo the 4 torx and split the caliper.

Use a strong hook or bungee to support the caliper whilst off.
