The original guy that ordered it new, did exactly what I would love to be able to do if a time machine was possible.

I.e order my 740 Turbo Saloon but special order to delete the standard fit sunroof, then spec it with all the add on options of the day at there price and availbiltiy.

Ok i've done that now but its taken me many a year to track down all the extras and i've still got the sunroof in my shell which i will remove at some point in the future.

If i was in the market for a 940 and that car was the spec i'd allways wanted in a 940 and if I really really loved 940's (which i dont as i prefer 740's) then perhaps i'd be looking to buy it and negotiate a bit on the price as it would save a lot of effort and money in putting it together as the poster above mentioned.

@Chesh

I thought this was your car but taken back to standard form (seen it at various shows)

It's worth that money all day long to stop some clown buying and making a mess of it

No its not my car, but if i had the money (lottery win) i would purchase it for my own little Volvo + other marques car collection i would have.

Yes the 2.0 engine spec lets its down but thats wentworths for ya, but aside from that, the provenance of the car is superb if all the supporting documentation about the orginal owner is there.

I think the sellers not done too bad with the price, I would imagine they've based it on the market value of a very very very nice example £2k (and yes saloons arent as desirable) and the cost of the accessories (5k mentioned i think) that are fitted which by the sounds of it they have the reciepts.

Back in around 2004 i priced up various accessories when they were still available to buy for the 700/900 at the dealer.

Polaris Alloys were £250 each
Sideskirts around £240
Rear Skirt £ 170
Front Skirt £170
Boot Spoiler £150-200
Snowcap £40
Wind Deflectors £100-150
Suspension kit if i recall was £400-600 cant remember as better aftermarket alternatives were available so didnt really take much note.
Tow bar kit ???? dont know but surely £200-300 notes

And all the other odds and sods probably add another 500-750. Plus the cost of spraying the kit and the dealers labour charges for fitting it all.

In my mind i think a 4-5k price is more realistic, but if the right buyer comes along people will pay what there prepared to pay.

As can be seen by earlier threads, people would love to have it for some of the certain parts and ditch the rest because in there mind its not there dream 940, but the parts would go on there own dream 940.

It would seem a shame to do that and i can see that the seller truly cares about the car and who the potential new owner would be.

Good luck to him and I hope if it is sold the new owner finds this thread and looks after it and brings it to some shows so that it can be seen in the flesh, because its the first 940 i've seen thats fully loaded with every optional accessory which as the seller says makes it rare.

Default low miles syndrome

Hardly used. Never run up to working temperature for any length of time.
Seals everywhere will be hardened. Probably daren't use it in anger in case it starts pouring oil out from dried out gaskets and seals.

A car should be used regularly. If you want an ornament buy a toby jug.
