2.5T AWD Clutch Replacement
Hi all.
I've got a 2005/6 2.5T awd with a clutch on its way out. My local indie is quoting £540 using a LUK clutch. Has anyone got any opnion on these? The Sachs clutch kit is more than the parts and labour combined.. Would a volvo dealer be fitting something else? |

Always considered LUK to be amongst the best and OE, but I could be mistaken regarding Volvo.
What mileage are you on?

If it's a reputable garage they should warranty their work and the parts they use. If it goes wrong just go back to them, although I doubt it will.

I'm on 159k. One failed attempt at a fast launch a few months ago definitely accelerated the decline.
Good to know he's giving me a good price! I'll make sure he's including a slave cylinder and I assume he was already including the pressure plate but I'll check. Clan - do you mean get him to source something other than the LUK kit? |

Having got through various qualities of Sachs brand, I would definitely support Clan's advice. For some reason, we have a tendency to cheap out (sorry for the expression) for the last £10 on a £70 bill (for example) and choose a cheaper item. Not worth, been there and ended paying 3 times the 'cheaper' price in the end. The cheaper prices online are also often times the parts that didn't pass the quality check on the assembly line at the factory. For some reasons these parts still end up on the market. Definitely fork a little more money and get the quality that can't be doubt.

So my local indie hadn't realised it was AWD so the price shot up to 850. He thought he would need it on the ramps for a few days, so I ended up thinking about it for a month and then going to Sentinel Volvo for the same price and they did it in 24hrs. It turned out I didn't have 4wd because of a stripped angle gear sleeve so that was sorted out too.
Difficult to come to terms with throwing that much money at it but at least it works now! |
