Default Why wasnt' the 163bhp D4 engine more popular

Hi,

It may just be me but I'm looking for a V70 rdesign anywhere between 2010 -14.
Now when I'm searching, (all variants) there are lots of D3 and D5 but very few D4 (2.0 5Cylinder). On paper they seem to be the best engine, more power than a D3 and not as thirsty as a D5 but much cheaper tax than both £30pa.

Is it because they are that good no-one sells them or were they genuinely not that popular and is there a reason? poor reliability, problems etc?

Thanks.

Not sure on the numbers sold, but if you're looking, aiui the D3 and D4 are mechanicaly identical, simply different maps which can be changed. Find a D3 and get it tweaked?

Thanks, Yes, I knew the engines were almost identical, I was just confused as why the preference would appear to be for a D3 which is lower powered and circa £190 in tax.

perhaps purchase price of a D4 outweighed the benefit.?!?

If you do get a D3 and remap it, I'd be interested to hear your experiences. I've been wanting to get mine done.

Default D3 two variants

Hi, I have a 2012 my D3 R-Design with the 5 cyl 2.0 engine that has 163bhp, but more importantly from a drive ability POV, 400nm torque. I believe there was another D3 variant that had 136 bhp and less torque, maybe that is the one you are thinking of? Anyway, after 3 years and around 30k miles of almost trouble free ownership, still very happy with it.

Thanks,

The D3 and D4 163 are, I believe, identical bar the tax band, £150 for the D3 and £30 for the D4.
