Default Cat Converter Question.

Hi there, Just joined the forum so this is my first posting. Having owned five 240s this is my first one with a catalytic converter which I have just removed due to it rattling like mad. I have raked out the ceramic monolyth and was wondering if I could put it back on the car or will it not pass an MOT because of this. It is a 1991 saloon with a B230F engine.

Welcome to the forum - good to have another 240 owner on board.

I posted on this last year and got lots of helpful advice. I believe that as long as your car is pre 92 then you can remove the cat (or just take the innards out) and you will be OK for the MOT. If removing the CAT itself then you will need to fit the lamda sender into the exhaust via a brazed on boss or similar.

When I can locate one Im going to fit a Jettex non CAT exhaust to my 90 saloon!

Ian

Just checked with Matt (the family MOT tester) - you are ok on a pre 93 with no cat.

Ian - I am now able to source Jetex sytems again with a few weeks notice.
