Yep the Miata in the states. I can't think of any reason why you couldn't use the Miata gearbox. The Toyota supra boxes are nice boxes as well and a company in oz sell adaptor parts for the B20, some info here: http://people.physics.anu.edu.au/~am..._volvo_240.htm

Hi Tom, I like the Toyota Supra w58 gearbox, I did have one but is gone now. It's a really nice box; light, compact and strong. You can also get different ends to change gear lever position.

I had a 5 speed MX5 and the box in that was nice to use with short precise changes, helped to make the car nice to drive. I think the Mx5 guys use this box up to about 250hp. It would be easier to get one of these than the Toyota one so if you did wreck it then no big deal replacing it as there are thousands of MX5s in the UK.

If you are going to go through the trouble of a retro-fit, you should atleast make it worth your wild... This General Motors V8 sits lower and further back than the original B18/B20, and ways less than 100 pounds more than the B18/B20. The firewall kit we have coming out, makes for an easy and minimally evasive modification..

As you can see there are no modifications to the core support, inner fenders, or front body structure.. The motor is fully accessorized with headers, ac compressor, alternator, power steering pump, and all can be removed with out any tight fitting effort.. Even Oil Pan can be removed without even jacking the motor up, because we actually have more clearances with the V8 and the Swedish Ops Crossmember, than the original 4cy and OEM crossmember.

There will actually be a bit more room in the Amazon than in the P1800... We have started on our Amazon project, so we will have some pics coming soon... Just figured this would give you an idea of the overall LS engine package, along with fitment in the place where a B18/B20 was.

think i am going to go with an mt75 gearbox from a transit as it 1 is a cheap box 2)is rated to 250hp and 300nm torque (and will handle a bit more than that im told) 3)the overdrive 5th is apparrently 0.6 so good for cruising and finally clutches are cheap and fairly large diameter the only downside is the gearlever is on the top of the box instead of at the back so i will need an extension and also i will need to make an adaptor plate
