Be interesting to see how this will change with so many hybrid and electric cars coming out.

Ahhh a purist! Isn't it satisfying to know that you are in control of the ignition rather than some programmer who was barely out of........MIT/Junior School/nappies & etc...fondly remember having to reset the points gap of my mini (a genuine 997S no less) every couple of weeks due largely to the fact that the condensers were not that reliable and the spark eroded the contacts at an alarming rate..........advanced no, probably somewhat retarded...also had to regrind valves on a regular basis - the effects of triple springs and an engine balance which whilst the bearings, shot-peened con rods, Tuftrided crank and cam, competition clutch & etc coped with up to 11500rpm, the harsh snap shut of the valves knocked 7 bells out of both the valves and valve seats!

I've still got a couple pots of the double ended coarse/fine grinding paste (stickers say 1s 9d) and a couple of the double plunger/safe arrow type grinding tools. Seem to remember having to re-seat the valves every 4 to 500 miles

Those were the days - up to elbows in oil/grease/....Gainsborough petrol at 5shillings and 8pence per gallon! (ie approx 6p per litre!!!!)
