Default Delta arm bushes - bolts

I’m going to change the rear delta link bushes on my partners 1999 V70 soon (got the bushes already, went for Febi and she’s picked a puller up from Volvo).

I have a question about the bolts that hold the bushes & brackets in place: I can’t find the part numbers for a set of the bolts anywhere – looked on Skandix, CVI, parts for Volvos and all the usual sites.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Mike

(I could probably re-use the old bolts but I always like to use new ones in case an old one breaks, has to be cut off etc. Not to mention that they’ve been on the car for 20 years and I’d rather replace them.)

I think you will find the bolts are as good as new including shiny plating !
However they are Stretch bolts which must only be used once , your volvo dealer will supply them. Note carefully the angle torque settings for tightening the bolts ..

Local Volvo place wasn't much help.... they even seemed confused by the puller until I gave them the part number!

Says to replace with new bolts but I've always used the old ones, as I'm sure have many...Volvo dealers don't seem to know...

Glad to see you've got the proper tool to remove the bushes, very difficult without it.

if you have re used them how did you torque them properly? the odds are they will not be clamping with enough force as when you try to reuse stretch bolts twice you find they keep winding up when you are torquing up with the correct method as they over stretch . Someone could have put back some non standard bolt of course , a lot of bodges can occur with previous owners over 25 years or so ...

Looking at this useful website, selecting a 1999 V70

https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/s...rimLevel=24677

the exploded parts diagram (no 10) indicates that you need 977509 bolts

https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/p...87/977509.html

Hope that helps
Steve

Thanks for all the replies and advice.

I'll get some bolts ordered - aiming to get the bushes done over the Easter break (also got to do a front wheel bearing... she will be paying me in beer!).

Thought I'd post a follow up (over on the classic section of this forum you always get people asking for advice and then disappearing or not telling you how they got on... annoys me a bit).

Did the delta bushes on both sides today (was a damn hot!)... bit of a PITA but not that difficult to do. Hardest part was figuring out how to support the car as the 'normal' places you'd support a V70 are no good as the axle needs to move a fair bit. Kinda tricky on the side of the road!

Would certainly recommend using the correct puller - the old (and pretty knackered) bushes came out/new ones went in easily.

Now have a happy girlfriend and I'm in her good books.

Once again, I appreciate all the advice given.

Thanks for the follow up. I'm with you on people not letting us know the end result of a problem that others are contemplating tackling. Also glad to know that I am not the only "side of the road" mechanic. We see to be a dying breed these days.

We certainly are...I can remember years ago every Sunday the blokes would be outside tinkering... (with their cars!) I suppose the advent of modern electronics has put paid to that. Sure many of you remember changing points & condensers.
Be interesting to see how this will change with so many hybrid and electric cars coming out.
