Default XC60 with B&W Door Handle Noise

Hey,

Anyone with B&W (or other sound systems) notice their door handles making a weird vibration noise to some frequencies that are audible whilst listening to music playback?

Attached a pic of a car from the internet with the handle circled, thanks!

Lol that just looks really uncomfortable!

No; less than half volume and only on specific frequencies, will make the passenger door handle vibrate and make a rather annoying noise to go with the vibration which is reasonably audible even with the music playing :-)

If you hold the door handle, the weird noises from it vibrating stop so its definitely the handle or the mechanism.

yep - i have just the standard sound system but under various types of low level bass it vibrates
found that if i push the speaker grill it goes away.
keep meaning to get volvo to sort it out but the hassle of having to prove the noise keeps putting me off

There's a topic over on the American forum specifically about B&W door rattles in the XC60 from 2017 onwards.

There seem to be various fixes involving;
-Adding sound deadening to both door panels (even if only one is reported).
-Replacing all the fixtures on the specific door.
-Replacing the actual door surround.

There seems to be mixed feelings on how successful any of these fixes are. Someone mentioned some service things but no idea on what they are;

TJ30762.2.0-2016-07-22 Front door non-laminated glass, rattling noise in down position
TJ30981-2016-01-05 Front doors buzzing noise, squeak and rattle
TJ 32037.1.0

Thanks!

yes, also I think it is the buttons on the doors sometimes, under heave bass loading.

There's new technical journal for Bowers & Wilkins:

Crackling sound from Bowers & Wilkins front door midrange speaker, TJ33419.2.0-2019-03-15

I have H&K and never noticed anything. Must be more a problem of B&W sound system.

Yes I have the same issue with mine, seems both front passenger and drivers side are doing it. Will need to get the car booked in to get it looked at. It's very annoying.

Do you have an issue where the bass is also not very punchy? I have turned the bass and subwoofer sliders all the way up, and can hardly hear any bass.

On some songs it's better, but surely the scales should not require to be all the way up?

Hey mate, recently swapped into an XC90 so not in the 60 anymore.

No problems so far in this car with its B&W!

On the XC60 if you held the door handle it would stop vibrating - didn't have any noticeable bass issues if that helps?
