nah, I understood u perfectly but because i DONT drive with WOT all the time, in fact its probably like 1% of cases you utilise full throttle, during rest of 99% of times you WILL feel the difference. And its a fact based on logic above
And thats mostly what I was trying to explain, the smoothness and engine responsiveness is affected a bit when compressor is running and thats ecxactly what bothers me. Not those 5hp less or whatever it causes

Maybe it's the type of a/c compressor fitted, there are different ones, my original 'Zexel' compressor was badged FoMoCo and used to click in with a thud and hold the car back.

We replaced that with a brand new Valeo compressor....same thing clicks in/out noticeably from the drivers seat.

Also I can't bear the thought of it being disabled at WOT and then smashing back in again at 5000 revs so when I want full and free power the a/c is switched off.

I actually took some running temps at the weekend after not running the a/c for about 8 months......4.5 degC at the vents

You might be right, but the 220/230bhp engine is already a tractor, therefore no difference in sound.
My condenser is not working and do not miss it at all. In Ireland is mostly rain/pain and a condenser is in vain.
