Default Stalling Problem

For many years I have driven a 1987 240 Estate with B230K engine. Several months ago it started playing up and then had to come home on a breakdown lorry as it refused to start at a local petrol station.
After much time, expense and some professional help I am no nearer a solution. I thought something was upsetting the timing but now think it must be the carb. Currently it starts and runs ok from cold but once it begins to warm up and I drive forward and pull up, it stalls and is then difficult or impossible to start. But when I reverse and pull up, even sharply, it has no effect. So it must somehow be linked to forward momentum. Baffled!
Time to take the carb off (again) and have much a much closer look.
