Default 1979 turbo converted 245 for sale

For sale is my 1979 Volvo 245, now fitted with a 2.3 turbo engine from a 940
I’ve owned this car for over 5 years and have replaced virtually all of it during my ownership!

940 B230FK engine, removed from 1998 model with 92k miles
New cambelt, water pump, head gasket, crank and cam seals (preventative while out of the car)
‘A’ cam fitted and correctly shimmed
New 940 TD clutch
M47 gearbox, short shifter and bronze shift bushings
Poly engine and g/box mounts
New conversion wiring loom
Chipped ECU and gold EZK, including bespoke fault code reader
Currently running 10psi boost from std turbo for approx 200hp. Scope for 250-300hp with well documented further modifications.
Side exit exhaust, with silencer – loud but not offensive

Short springs fitted
GAZ adjustable dampers all round
Fully poly bushed rear suspension and adjustable panhard rod
New front control arms with poly bushes
Drilled and grooved, vented front discs, recon calipers and Black Diamond pads
Power steering retrofitted
Later 3.54 ratio axle fitted
6x15 Volvo 760 Sirius wheels fitted

Alfa Romeo 156 leather front seats
240 GLT leather rear seat (rear 156 seats and a spare 240 seat frame included)
Custom speedo conversion

Later front spoiler fitted
Choice of headlights, as fitted or US quads adapted to RHD with vgc surrounds (choice of style)
Choice of sidelights: 2 colour, all clear or all orange
Replacement rust free tailgate, not yet fitted

The body is in good condition, bearing in mind the car is now past it’s 40th birthday. There are a few spots of rust and the car has had various repairs to the sills, rear wheel arches, spare wheel wells, screen surround and driver’s floor in my ownership. It has been undersealed in its past which is probably the reason it’s still with us. It is solid and looks smart, but please do not expect perfection. The tailgate is the main let down, however I have a mint one in the same colour included.

The turbo conversion was finished in March 2018 and I’ve covered around 4000 miles since. The speedo shows 97,500, the engine has done 96k and the shell has done ~175k (although suspension and brakes are all updated anyway)
The car has just had a full service of engine, gearbox and diff oil.

The earlier, flat fronted 240s are becoming harder to find. I see far fewer 240s of any age on the road even in the 5 years I’ve owned this and it regularly turns heads. It has a good turn of speed, handles well and you can fit a wardrobe in the back when needed. I have no hesitation in taking it on any length journey.

I have a large amount of spares, from filters through to alternator & door cards which will be included. The US headlights and sidelights are available as optional extras

Asking price is £5,500ono

Please feel free to ask me any questions, viewings highly recommended in Forest Row, E. Sussex.

Thanks

Tony

That was a lot of car for the money. I am sure the new owner will have a lot of happy miles with it.

It actually sold through here, so it might resurface.
