Default Polestar v90 d4

Has anybody had the above done and has it made much difference to the cars performance?

Hi,

If you do a search on this forum there are several threads on the topic of Polestar optimisation and whether it is worthwhile.

I debated for a while whether to have it added to my V90 D4 when a few months old and sought the opinion of two friends, one being a Volvo service manager and the other a Volvo master technician, their responses were something along the lines of: "spend your money on something you really want or need", needless to say I didn't bother!

Polestar uncomplicated what volvo complicated. Imagine a ball of wool. Volvo got the wire and gave us some knots. It has blocked the wire sort of speaking and the engine and the gearbox resent from the knots, becoming indecisive sluggish. What Polestar did was to untie the node: D

It gets more accurated more calibrated more responsive in the binomial engine/gearbox. Don't expect it to be a rocket launcher. All a matter of financial priorities.

Or you could just have the gearbox update from the dealer for free and fix the issue.

Why not just tune it somewhere else? The D5 goes from 235 HP to 290HP if i do it with software from a good rep 3rd part company. The 190HP D4 goes up to 260 HP. Thats a real bump compared to the polestar upgrade that costs way more.

I'm sure this would nullify your warranty.

I can't find anywhere that can do that without having to remove the ecu.

Previous diesel cars I have owned including 5 Series and an A4 where easy to upgrade by plugging in a chip into the common rail on top of the engine, easy to fit and easy to remove when vehicle was in for service etc.

Clear caveat to all third party upgrades is of course if you need to inform your insurance broker.
