Zurich Insurance - How unbelievably stupid
Back in January I had a collison with a police car - he was on summer tyres in the snow and slid downhill into my back. Minor damage to the bumper and parking sensor.
It took a while to get the details. It then took a while for Zurich to get back to me. I wanted to take the car to the local Volvo dealer and they were not happy and asked for 2 quotes - we only have one Volvo dealer in Leicester.... They received the repair quote as requested and nothing happened. Because of the inactivity I called Zurich today. Apparently Zurich received my letter with the quote - at first they said they did not - and filed it. What else would you do with a letter that contains a requested repair quote? They did not get back to me or the repair shop because there was no request in the letter to do so. Do I need to spell everything out for them? I was surprised to get a call from the repair shop late in the afternoon asking me to come down again as Zurich is not happy with the paper quote they received but they need a computeriyed quotefor the inspector now. How complicated is Zurich trying to make this simple issue? |

Have to say of all insurers Zurich is one I'd not touch with a barge pole. That opinion was formed on my own experience of a claim in which I was held 100% blameless, at which time I was insured by Zurich.
I understand that foreign call centres are all the rage nowadays, but Zurich seeemed to be in a class of their own, seemed incapable of any dialogue in English, and I rarely managed to get what I considered to be a single word of sense out of them. Thankfully the at-fault driver's insurance admitted full liability and I dealt mostly with them, they made the whole process much more painless (bruises excepted). If the other party had squabbled, I have zero confidence that Zurich would have been able to resolve the situation in my interests. One to avoid then, in my own opinion. |

i would suggest you raise this as a complaint to them, and get some traction on dealing with it.
point out that they are making it unduly and unnecessarily complicated. Remind them also that they are breaching Outcome 6 of the FCA Treating Customer Fairly requirements (Consumers do not face unreasonable post-sale barriers imposed by firms to change product, switch provider, submit a claim or make a complaint.) There are also further rules on settlement promptly, so having such barriers in place will prevent a prompt resolution which they are supposed to measure and conform to. They are also required to advise you of the claims process and keep you informed of progress, so bang on about this. If you like its also worth reminding them that if you are not happy with the manner in which they are handling your claim and your now complaint, that you reserve the right to take it to the FOS (Ombudsman) which will cost them another £550. |

To me there is no surprise, they are simply doing what insurance companies do best, screw you around so they can hang on to your money.
My son was knocked of his motorbike a year ago end of this month. He was on main A30 and a car pulled out from junction claiming he did not see him. Who was following him? Unmarked traffic car, two up, camera rolling. The two officer's witness statement, the film, four other witnesses all submitted their details. The third party are holding my son responsible. Insurance companies are a national disgrace, liars, thieves, in the same vein as politicians. The true worth of any insurance company is measured by how quick they cough up. V70Driver |

Sorry to hear about your son, hope he's ok. I've come to the conclusion that working in certain jobs must mean you have no morals, compassion or human empathy! Insurance companies and car park wardens being amongst them.

He is fine thanks Simon, its just frustrating when the evidence is so obvious.
I have written to the third party to ask under what rules of the Highway Code and/or Road Traffic Act do they hold my son responsible. As predicted no response. My son's insurance company have now served court papers on the third party insurers. Just time wasting, Of course if it was a famous musician, footballer, film star the pay out would have been instantaneous. Insurance company's are unscrupulous, thieving liars and have absolutely no morals what so ever. V70Driver |
