Default Windscreen washer level low indicator stays on

Despite filling the reservoir to the brim, the indicator on the dash of my R-reg V70 R AWD stays on, which is somewhat annoying.

I've had a quick look under the bonnet, but there is nothing obvious I can see. Where should I look to fix this?

Many thanks in anticipation,

Koenfucius

Hi,

it sounds like (stating the obvious here!) either a faulty level sensor or a bad wiring connection.

The level sensor in situated in the top of the washer bottle and should just push into the bottle with a grommit. Knowing how buried the bottle is on the 850, I doubt if the V70 is any better, and could be a swine to get to.

If it was mine, I would clean the connector plug on the wire, if that didn't work, I would disconnect it and try to remember to keep the washers filled up - better than having the light on all the time. If the switch is at fault then I would think it's a genuine part only.

Cheers

Brian

Spot on - it seems to be hidden below the metal. :-(
I cannot even easily locate the correct wire - there's quite a few in that general area. I'll have another look to see if I can identify the correct one.

Thanks for the reply!

When my light stayed on, I was told by my friend it was the sensor, but, there was a blockage in the end.

I got some farely warm to hot water and poured it down.

One thing you could check is if you put the washers on then your water level should go down, if it does not then it is a blockage.

Thanks, Roy. The washers do work normally, and the level does drop so I do suspect there is something wrong either mechanically or electrically.
