Default cold start

When starting my 850 on recent cold winter mornings I have noticed the turbo seems to kick in and make a loud whooring noise for about 5-10 seconds as the engine revs. I bought the car during the summer so I have never heard the noise before. Is this normal, or is the turbo getting damaged because of this?. When parking up after a drive I leave the car runing for 15-20seconds to let the turbo cool down, also can anyone recomend a turbo timer for 850t-5r.

Happy new year

The correct way to start our cars is to depress the clutch and turn the starter without touching the accelerator. The idle stabilisation valve seems to give it quite a few revs on initial start up until it calms down. Not ideal for the turbo as it'll spin it up.
You may have a vacume leak that could cause a problem.
