Default Alpine CHM-S630 Cd changer for V70

Hi,

I want to install a CD changer to work with the fitted Volvo head unit. From what I can see the CHM-S630 (which has replaced the S620) is the one I need. Has anybody got one fitted and also, does the unit fit in the glove box ?

Any info much appreciated.

I put an older CHM-S601 onto my 850 with an SC-700 radio.

1) You will probably need an adapter unit such as
http://www.incar-discount.co.uk/acat...erface_22.html
for the M-Bus Alpine models. This converts the Volvo head unit signal to match the Alpine changer.

2) The fitment can be several places.
The glovebox is easily accessible, but also easier to nick by toerags that break in.

In the rear of your estate, in the 850 at least there is a compartment on the lhs floor in which the changer can be vertically mounted. I would imagine the V70 has something similar.
However the trim panel to fit over the changer bulge for an 850 is about £100 so not a really neat prospect.

Another fitment place is screwed to the bottom of the most forward lift up cover in the tail area. Mine is mounted here...out of sight and easily accessible if your boot isn't always full up.

Thanks for the info.

Good thinking about the position in the boot storage area.

Thanks for the web address, this has got to be the cheapest alpine disc changer anywhere.

I think the online prices are all about the same....certainly a lot cheaper than local retail at Alpine dealer shops.

Hi ya,

I have a saloon and have been thinking of the glove box for the changer but I was just going to lock it in with the Key. Where exactly are you on about. Do you mean the wheel well area of the trim where the Ariel is that has that recess and drainage?

Mark.

I have the estate so I may have extra lift up panels in the rear.
In the estate there are two lift up panels in the floor to access the spare wheel. The rear one has the small void where the jack goes, but the forward one has enough clearance for the changer to be screwed to the underside.
There is also a clipped on panel on either side of the estate floor. The offside has a void where a changer can be mounted (the fitting kit is about a tenner).

I thought about the glovebox, but if you're spending near £200 then I wouldn't like to have it in the glovebox. And if your glovebox is locked, even more reason to force the lock to see what's in there.

Resurrecting this post...
I've found the same cd changer complete with adapter, plugs straight into my SC805 unit but there is a yellow & red wire from the adapter, I presume this is power and earth but not sure, any advice please?
