stickyback plastic comes to mind

Our daughter still has all the badges she won in the 80's

Still got mine somewhere, and my lad has most of the newer ones.

Only problem at the moment it the left over yoghurt pot which I can't find a place for :-)

I think these guys have been on TV - I'll be giving them a go if/when I need my headlights re-chroming:

https://dual-metallising.co.uk/reflectors/

I'd rather re-chrome my original units than buy a modern copy Good idea with the sticky-back plastic, although I'm wondering how long it will last with the heat?

Time will tell I guess. TBH I want to focus on the mechanicals of the car for now, get it sorted and driving. I think the re-chroming cost is on a par with new lights, I guess it depends on how original you want the car to be.

Well…. Storm Eunice blew one of the neighbours windows out of the window frame and straight into the back window of my T5! Direct hit! For some mad reason I stashed away a spare tailgate in my parents shed, so I fitted it! Window smashed at 5:30pm Friday in Kent, and spare tailgate all fitted by 1:30am Saturday morning in the timber frame garage I have built in Birmingham. What an adventure!

Pics show my handiwork with the tape to get me up to Birmingham.

PS: Can anyone tell me how to actually upload a picture to this forum? I tried for about 15 mins and kept getting errors. Trying to embed an imgur link into the post also didn't work. Very frustrating!

You need to ensure the images are not too big. I tend to make mine around 1024 pixels maximum

To embed a link click the blue 'Insert link' button, paste in your link and click OK then the link will show in your box with part of in 'blued out' and you can 'type whatever you want'... and change the size and the colour of the letters or you can just change it to Click here for pictures

Not quite as bad as a broken window but the storm blew one of my roof rail thingies and blew it around so much it won’t seat back in the tracks anymore. No idea how I’m going to fix that now

Firstly, great job! Its one of those stories to show the other half when your 'just in case' stash of parts is questioned

The other thing that struck me - when you said you'd built a timber frame garage, I was expecting a glorified shed - something like I'd build - but no - wow! Thats some garage!!! Very envious now

Not today, but yesterday my old 850R gained itself a new MOT, just a couple of advisories, rear flexis starting to go a bit flaky & a couple of distorted wheels, I have a customer at work with one of those wheel straightening machines so I’ll let him practise on mine.
All in all not bad for a 250,000 mile 26 year old car

Reminds me of the time when I wa working for a parcels company and as we loaded the van in the morning there was a package which was obviously a hatchback door but whenever we moved it you could hear the glass particles rattling around inside. I still had to deliver it even though it was obviously damaged and let the customer put in a claim. it turned out the guy had had the hatchback screen broken on his car and it was cheaper to get a secondhand door than a new screen, I doubt the company ever gave him enough to get the screen repaired.
