Default Front struts help please

Does anyone know if front struts from a 2001 v40 will fit a 2000 model (the whole unit ie top mount down) thanks in advance.

Yes they are the same, as both cars would be phase 2, even if you were putting P2 legs on a p1 that also works, drop links are a different length though.

Cheers clarkey, mines a phase 1.5 late 1999 but my2000 so it's a bitsa of phase 1 and 2, so will it be a case of just getting the longer drop links (267mm) as mine are currently the 200mm ones and the rest of the the strut being a straight fit?

The top mounting points are the same on both phases (the 3 holes) and so it the space where the strut fits on the hub. So I am guessing that they should be ok, as long as you use the longer P2 drop links. It is a guess, not a 100% fact.

Cheers Gatos, with all the searching I've done it seems that the only difference is the longer drop link so the drop link mount must be further up the strut leg, I think, being the only change from p1 p1.5 to p2, I think, and if that's the case using the longer drop links shouldn't be a problem, I think.

I'm not even sure the drop link change between phases is even an absolute must you know, as when I originally put the P2 coilovers on my P1 I just stuck with the not very old standard 200mm links and everything worked fine with no fouling r anything.

Cheers Clarkey, I'll try with the 200mm ones first and if I get a problem I'll just put on the 267mm ones as it's a simple job, any ideas what to look for if the 200mm ones are playing up?

My setup was extremely low and as such using the 267mm ones would have had the ARB near enough touching the road so I fitted 226mm mk8 honda civic ones once the 200mm ones refused to undo for a 4th time, managed three times before the silly torx bit centres rung off, I like the civic ones as they were a similar enough length to give a happy medium and also have flats on the back to hold with a spanner instead of the aforementioned torx failure fixings.

Yeh, those torx bolts are a right pain, never thought of trying other types.

It all stems from my stupidly low BMW days, getting the coilovers on and then thinking well, the standard length ones are way too long, I can't remember what ones work on the front of an E36 but I know for the front of a 46 Hyundai coupe rear ones do the job, there was a lot of experimentation lol
