Volvo 240 Edinburgh
Wondering if anyone in Edinburgh/Central Belt has any garage recommendations. For general servicing and minor repair/replacement parts?
Cheers |

The car has appeared on the forum and been discussed. Just an honest heads- up!

Non-historic registered 240s (and your motor car won't qualify until April 2027) hardly ever make over £5,000, and to reach 6 grand they have to be immaculato. Even if you kept the motor car until it is tax exempt (another 5 years) I don't think it would make £5,000 at today's prices. This won't be what you wanted to hear from Andrew or myself; I'm sorry about that, but the market is what it is. What I would say is that if you need to sell then do it quickly before the MoT runs out and the 'cost of living crisis' (as the media insists on calling inflation) dries up the market for large and thirsty old motor cars. If you still own the motor car at the end of October you may not be able to sell it until next spring and you will have to get it through another MoT. We all wish you well; by all means place a free ad in the 'for sale' section, someone just might be looking for a motor car like that, but price it sensibly (a lot nearer £2,000 than £5,000). I'd also suggest you take some better photos and describe it more candidly. For example there is no point claiming it has a full service history when the MoT history shows there has been a big gap when it was off the road. Good fortune, Alan

Bad news is never nice to hear or deliver , even when well meant.
Alan is right.

Jamesnotharry dropped in to the forum just once, placed an ad (in the wrong place to attract much attention from buyers) and has not been seen since. I have to conclude Jamesnotharry isn't very serious about selling his motor car (… and that would seem to be corroborated by his eBay advertisements). Ho hum :-(
