I bought the tool and did my own. Dealer wanted £300.
Tool was £180 two bushes with 2 year warranty were £33 delivered.
Job was quite easy but I do have a two poster ramp at home but it would be easy enough on axle stands.
Top tip if doing them yourself, the bushes are really tight even with the tool. Pop the bushes in the freezer overnight and they slid in a lot easier.

I'm having a squeaky noise nearside rear end, started on a 500 round trip y-day, thought puncture first. started to hear it driving through road works at 50 but no sound at higher speeds. Stopped and inspected at the time but nothing visible. Is it likely to be the bush playing up or any other ideas?

This is typical early symptoms of bush failure.

Thanks, a bit more £ to spend then, no noise when turning right but on straight a bit like rubbing plastic, must be it, car going into indy end of the week. Presume one better change both at the same time.

when i did mine it had just passed an MOT, you can't see the bush without removing the under trays. The car drove and handled just as always the only problem was the squeek.

Once i removed the cover from the nearside you could see the bush was clearly gone but the offside looked fine. As my bushes came as a pair i just did them both and when i got the off side one off you could see it was splitting and only had a few miles left.

I would do both sides. I went for aftermarket bushes as they were £33 for both sides and have a two year warranty. I think Volvo wanted £85 each with one year warranty.

It's a shame you are so far away i still have the tool and a ramp you could have popped round.
here is a link to an ebay seller that rents the tool for £50 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RENTAL-MON...item4adda407d8
There are loads of the tools for sale. most are now about £170 however here is one for £127 but the guy has no feed back. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Monde...item27f7bec889
Here is a link for the bushes, you will need to transfer a stud from your old near side bush to refit the exhaust hanger. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/S-Max-Mond...item3f30a3f5e5
