Default D5 EGR removal

Hey everyone!
I've arrived at this thread after my car (2008 V70 D5) went into limp mode earlier today and got stuck going up a steep hill. RAC called and got me to a garage local to home who have diagnosed an issue with the EGR. They want £750 almost to put a new one on.
I suggested cleaning it but they were adamant it wouldn't help?

I'm now debating getting the car home (short drive) and having a go at cleaning it or replacing it myself should it need it.

The Volvosweden vid on youtube is helpful, but I wondered if anyone had a guide for fully removing the EGR valve?

Also, if I clean it at home, will the car instantly come out of limp mode if the cleaning resolves it? Or will I need to get the codes wiped again before normality is restored?

Thanks in advance!

If cleaning it cures the fault the car will run normally after but the code will be stored in the memory.

Incase that doesn't cure it, does anyone have a guide for the full removal?

He has a YouTube channel, if that helps. Search for "volvosweden".
