Congratulations to you for making a success of the job. Very surprised the climate panel was a plug and play item - not what I would have expected despite matching part numbers.
P2 never liked 2nd hand bits ( well mine don't and expected P3 to be even more finikey.)
Again congrats and keep us informed.
Cheers Bob
I’d to put that lock assembly back in about 4 times as the locking pin that goes through the door card kept dropping off the mechanism. It’s also got that keyless entry, so there’s extra wiring that is buried in the mechanism and needs a delicate hand to reach the connectors. Haha!

Could not believe the climate panel actually worked without throwing a configuration error in Vida. As you say the P2’s are a pain with exchanged modules.

I’ve now got all 4 electric windows flagging a permanent fault in Vida, but they all work (drivers one is still a little sticky half way up), so don’t know what that’s about.

I think today’s the day I swap the cars over and take the P2 off the road so I can put it up for sale.

Oh no it isn’t!

Started it up this morning and one of the aux belt pulleys is squealing, sounds like the one under the alternator. One was slightly chirping when I picked it up then went quiet.

Although I can do the job myself, I don’t really have time or some of the tools for the timing belt. So going to bite the bullet and book it into one of the local indy garages (read view if they can fit it in) for all the belts and pulleys sorting, then I know where I stand with it.

I'm interested in the source of the chirp as I've had this on the d3 from day 1. New cambelt kit new aux belt new aux tensioner new alternator, ac belt removed and guess what? It's still got a chirp!

Had a good think and as the cambelt was only changed 4 years ago decided to leave that alone and DIY the aux/air con belts.

Just released the aux and confirmed the squealing has stopped, so it’s definitely on that run.

Something I’ve never seen before,, the side of the tensioner around the T50 hole sheared out as I released the tension on the belt!

Just ordered the belts, tensioner, and alternator freewheel pulley from FRF which hopefully will show up tomorrow or Wednesday.

Was a fight to get the tensioner off, far too tight. Was worried the bolt was going to shear!

Had a look for a manufacturing date, obviously don’t know how long it was sat around before been installed. Looks like this was made in December 2013 (at least the pulley cover was). So possibly was changed in 2016 with the cambelt.
Had a look at all the spinny things this morning and can’t feel anything rough. Time will tell once the bits arrive.

Everything is now in bits and I'm waiting impatiently for a box to arrive for FRF! That alternator is a pig to get out if you've not tried it, need to take top radiator hose off so now I need to find around a litre of coolant that I lost.

Anyway, whilst work is a bit slack, changed the oil and filter between conference calls :-) Drained just over 7 litres (according to my catch tray) out of the engine. Probably explains why it was whinging at me about high oil level when I first got it. Anyway 5.5l of nice new oil is now residing in the sump.

Did you need to remove the alternator to change the freewheel pulley ?
Not done on this my ph3, but on my old ph2 euro4 I changed the pulley with the alternator in-situ (with the special tools which you're going to need regardless)

Afraid so, the spindle of the alternator is only an inch or so from the beam that runs down the inner wing, no room whatsoever. Mine's a Euro5 D5 engine, so may be different on the other engines. (just seen it's the same engine as mine on your sig)

You beat me on the P2, I took the alt off that to do the freewheel pulley as well.

New shiny and black bits arrived. All fitted and all naughty squeaks and squeals appears to have cleared.

I’d normally go for quality aftermarket however for speed and to get the right bits, the car is on the changeover of a redesigned belt tensioner, paid a bit more to get them direct from FRF volvo (rufe).

Still got it half in bits so road test will have to wait until later in the week.
