Steering
Having never driven an Amazon until i started looking for one and owning one for the last year or so can I ask what people think of the Steering ?
Every car I have ever owned has had Rack and Pinion until the Amazon and i found them all very direct. The Amazon on the other hand seems very vague and loose... can the steering box be adjusted or do they wear? and if so how are they adjusted please as i don't want to damage it. Amazon cars do a YouTube video on adjusting the steering box. Check your idler arm, they wear quickly if the later rubber bush type and often over tightened to compensate. You can get a conversion to change to a greased brass bush type which is much better. Brookhouse sell it.
Amazon cars also have info on their website for wheel alignment specs for modern tyres.

Just doing the adjustment as described but I also took the weight off the wheels to see if I had better feel and smoother movement.
It need a tiny bit of adjustment but feeling not 100% correct.. so I thought I would check the oil lever ! I could not see any oil in the box at all... I have looked up and it say use Hypoy Light, I believe thats an 80EP oil so will a 80 - 90EP rear axle oil be the same ? It has to be better than B all ? |
