Hi,

Ta for that - your car is looking very nice too I forgot to add.

There is undoubtedly somewhere a write up on how to touch up leather seats.

You can imagine my shock and surprise when I saw the marks!
Towel on his seat whilst in the car!!!

Des. . .

Thanks yes there is a towel under the ISOFIX base to prevent marks on the leather

Never fun to find damage on your motor is it

Thats mightily impressive Sean and a testament both to your hard work and the materials Volvo use in their cars. I was particularly impressed with the finish on the leather seats (very soft and comfy looking). Would it be true to say its a combination of their age/use and the products you used, or just the latter?

Cheers, tbh the leather was in excellent shape and it's very rarely been sat in in the back (as a consequence of phoning the previous owners Mother by accident on the Bluetooth kit I managed to speak with the guy!) so it hasn't lead a hard life in terms of its use, he did confirm my suspicion he has a dog (I knew that from the moment I sat inside it from the smell as I have a dog myself haha) and he's just used the car as everyday transport for him and his wife for the last 7 years after ordering it new from Riverside motors in Hull. A lot of the miles were put on visiting their children who have moved away.

There was a small scuff on the drivers seat and that's been fixed now but other than that the interior was tidy when I got it apart from the dirt and dust that wasn't vacuumed out by the vendor. The previous owner admitted to not being as fastidious as he might on the cleaning front but it made my life easier as it meant the paint was very tidy! The vendor had cleaned the leather but he used a leather conditioner which is no good on modern leather seats as they are semi aniline lacquered leather and all the conditioner does is sit on top of the surface and makes it greasy so once that was cleaned off properly the seats have settled to their nice matt finish. They smell fantastic now too, not doggy lol. The steering wheel and gear-lever were more fun as I used a magic eraser first to cut through the grime then the Liquid Leather and that worked well. I usually steam clean leather if its filthy but the seats were clean, just had the wrong product applied to them by the vendor. That said, the pre sale valet was a hasty one so its no surprise! The L1 has no finish on it if you like, just creates a very hydrophobic barrier on the seats as does the I1 on the carpet (used to protect my C70's soft top with that) so perfect for dog smells and baby sick, not that he has been sick, he likes going in the car! Sad thing is I have to drive it tomorrow so all my stripy will go lol, only did it for pics and cos on a scale of 1 to Sad when it comes to cleaning the car, guess where I am haha

You *almost* tempted me to go and give mine a once over to see how easy it would be to make the silver paint shine but then it started to rain...and 5 hours later it still is!

So sod that...

More updates; another parcel arrived today, wonder what it could be?

I was going for a hatchbag but this came up on sale on eBay for £50 down from £90 so it was worth a look, heard good things about these

So let's see it fitted

The bumper flap is tucked underneath to allow the boot to close

And less than 2 hours after fitting it, look at it now!!

Full of grass! But that's why it's there Need to shuffle it around to get it 100% snug in there but in very happy with it

More to come!

Nice one, I'm very happy with mine, Justin shuffled it about for a better fit, just be aware the Velcro ties to hold it down to the floor are designed for D rings like on the sides of the boot and they aren't easy to fit to the hooks in the sliding rail but it is possible to do it with a bit of fiddling. Hope you like yours!

XC still going well, in fact this happened the other day

Blurry because Laura leaned over to take it!

Nothing else to say other than it's dirty again and I've not added anything to my upgrades list, just planning out my LED binge, starting with the exterior

Numberplate of death coming soon!
