Good luck with the hunt, but I doubt if anyone here has a functioning spare d24. Several may have various bits thereof. Someone on the auction site has what seems to be a complete engine, but is selling the components separately. Engines do not come up that often, you will see the occasional 900/700 and of course LT's but these will certainly have been well used.

The old LT28-LT46(lt35 are more common) before the 1995 sprinter shape. From 1982 onwards I think. The TD lt's are quite rare most are 2.4d's.

The LT engine came as the d24 or d24T, but not the intercooled version which volvo introduced in 93 and as above VW changed the engine in the vans around this time, still keeping the displacement the same but with 5 cylinders not 6. Beat up LT vans and bits appear to be quite comon and the engine was used in the LT 28, 35 and 45.

Hi SBID,
I have a complete engine taken from a 740 - it had been transplanted from a 940 into the 740. I have history concerning various re-built parts. I bought the whole car and drove it from Fife to Cumbria to be a donor for a VW LT - sadly I'm losing my storage so that won't get done. It cost me £350 plus the round trip to Fife. Let me know if you're still looking for an engine and I will dig out all the details. Dan |
