Question What type of fitting are the map light bulbs?

Having replaced the interior and number plate light festoon bulbs on my V50 with LEDs I'm now looking to replace the front interior bulbs (map lights and front door switched interior lights). The problem is they are of a similar fitting type to dashboard lights (push into a circuit board from behind) but I don't know what the type of fitting/bulb is called to enable me to locate a suitable LED replacement.

Anyone able to help?

Thanks
Tony

Just done my C30. I'm sure they are the same. Put these in eBay search bar.
LED: 8 WHITE SMD LED 501
And the holders: 10pcs 501 194 2825 T10 W5W Twist Lock Wedge Bases

You don't need the holders you can wiggle n push the bulb out but don't know if you'd have to modify the bulb after it not?
I just. Bought some new holders

Hi,

When I replaced mine I tried to remove the original bulbs but they wouldn't budge and I wanted to keep them as emergency replacements should I need them. Search for T10 LED's get the short ones though otherwise they will hit the plastic cover. I found I had to remove the little metal "reflectors" as my new LED's wouldn't fit through them, I kept those as well just in case I need them.

Hope that helps.

Hi there, I didn't upgrade to LED's on the interior as I heard they will flicker as it fades out. the removal of the bulbs from the holder is a real pain. If you look there will be two metal tabs with the wires from the bulb bent over them, you can push the tab up and then SNAP the little wires from the bulb and then it will be completely free. Here is a video which should help!

If you do change to LED and they don't flicker and fade properly please could you leave a link to the product you bought as I would like to upgrade to LED in mine. At the moment I have the cheap blue painted "xenon" bulbs in there which do produce a white light but I would like something brighter!

Thanks Paddyred, danielg1980 and Keatin for your responses all of which were helpful, especially the twist lock wedge bases code and the youtube link!

I've ordered the twist lock wedge bases but will have a go at removing and replacing the bulbs in the existing ones while the bases wing their way from China.

Thanks again
Tony
