Help needed
Hi everyone,
I'm just needing a bit of help with my 2009 1.8 C30. A couple of weeks ago i noticed that my windscreen washers (both front and back) were playing up a little, like they wouldn't spray on demand every time id have to sometimes pull the stalk 4 or 5 times to get it to do anything. However it didn't happen all of the time, now a couple of days ago they gave up the ghost completely. So now when the stalk is pulled the windscreen wipers activate but not water is supplied at all, following this i have checked all pipes and the washer bottle level and nothing seems to be at fault there and I have also checked for blockages. so has anyone got any ideas as to what could be the root cause of this issue? i'd like to suspect that it is either the fuse that has blown or the motor itself has failed, but I have no way go finding out. ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dan |

Certainly sounds like switch or motor failing/failed and my first port of call would be the motor.
Where the reservoir is on the C30 afraid I have no idea but on most cars these days it's not a bottle on the bulkhead you can get to easily. Given the work to get at them I would be thinking of changing the motor anyway. It will be a FoMoCo part anyway and plenty of good aftermarket pumps available from good motor factors ie, independents not chains like halfords. While you have the bottle out a simple test lamp across the plug terminals will check the electrics. Just connect the test lamp and try the washers, if the lamp lights all is well. Make sure your test lamp works first by testing across a known working power source, battery or cigar lighter. Paul. |

water shortage
What sort of temp were you having the washer troubles at ?, might just have been starting to freeze up, the other thing i think i once saw mentioned is that the rear washer pipe runs via the headlining and can sometimes come disconnected resulting in a wet headlining.. maybe neither of these your source of the problem but worth a mention..
