Default XC90 refresh to extend production run

Some talk on ‘the other place’ about a substantial interior and exterior refresh to keep the current model alive, in parallel to Embla.
Perhaps only as hybrid. There are a few websites covering same:

https://plugavel.com/18043/car/new-v...career-18/amp/

https://topelectricsuv.com/news/volv...-recharge/amp/

I’d probably consider another XC90, if the changes freshen it up enough. The trouble with the Mk 1 was that it didn’t get enough updates to support it’s long life. We thought about buying a new one in 2011…think it still had a tape deck!!

From a dealer point of view - we have not been told of any refresh due and our understanding is that there will be a whole new model which will run along-side the XC90 as it stands at present.

This is encouraging. I'd likely upgrade to that, if fully electric. The Embla renders so far look weird to my eyes. MK2 XC90 still looks gorgeous to me.

Thanks - that’s interesting to hear. There are posts on swedespeed that *claim* dealers have been shown upgraded models already. Which I took with a pinch of salt!

Interesting thank you. It will be good for those of us who are not ready to go fully electric yet and/or balk at the very high prices of the BEV cars that are coming out.

I agree that the XC90 still looks very good. Compared with most German SUVs and in particular their BEV offerings, the XC90 has clean, classic and attractive lines.

I’d would definitely love to consider the Embla but the cost both for what it is and the fact will be a new model will make that prohibitive.

Another XC90 may fit the bill nicely in the interim until I go electric, would go electric now as I’ve got over the range stuff the one thing I still get hooked up on is the comparative cost and in effect having to drop a segment for the same price eg down to Polestar 2 (which I do think is a great car from driving)
