Volvo 940 low pressure turbo
First timer in need of help. We have replaced the fuel relay on the board behind the dash but now the car won't start and all the lights on the dash flash on and off. Any ideas?

First idea is what model, what engine, what sort of injection, model year, auto/manual, anything else relevant or even seemingly irrelevant.
Based on what you have said though, does it have an alarm/immobiliser on it? Did you disconnect the battery while fitting the new fuel pump relay and why did you fit a new one?

Battery dead
Check the voltage with a multimeter. Without key and while trying to start. Please answer the questions Dave did post And: why did you change the (hopefully white) fuel relay? Good luck , Kay |

Immobiliser engaged?
Does the alarm come on or is there absolutely nothing except idiot lights? Check that the relay is properly engaged and you haven't disturbed any other relay or fuses.

The fuel relay is normally under the dash behind the ash tray. It won't affect the dash though.
But as other have said it sounds like you have set the alarm off. or you have replace the alarm instead?? If you didn't know you had an alarm, you may need to remove and bypass it, or it might just go back to normal if you remove the battery terminal and reattach more firmly. ie don't allow it to spark much. The alarm electronics don't last well, my 95 car was done last year or so. Before that the transmitter range was reducing to nothing. |
