Default My 940

Finally got round to doing a few jobs on my 940.

Fitted my new to me rear lights and did fog light mod.
Painted the mirrors silver.
Fitted and painted the silver rear bumper trim.
Re-fitted tailpipe back on as knocked it into bank. Fitted it the wrong way around as more out the way!
Bought and fitted new number plates.
Had my summer tyres fitted.
Yesterday fitted my used hazard switch cover and tailgate trim clips.
Last week ordered some AC O rings and fitted them along with the better clamp and had it re-gassed. Now have AC!

Thursday booked in for oil and filter change and gearbox oil drain/refill.
Thank you Kevin, Mark and Luke for the parts. Well pleased.

Looking for AC tensioner and grey leather interior.

Looks good. What’s the fog light mod you mention? Not heard of that.

Thanks. On my 940 it originally only had one offside rear fog light.

When I fitted the new lights there was provision for fitting another bulb holder in the nearside light. The wiring was already there taped up to the loom.

I had to snap off a couple of protrusions on the rear of the light to allow the bulb holder to sit flat and lock in and then connect the wire.

I now have 2 rear fogs.

It's by design that you only have one fog light, this is to prevent people getting them confused with brake lights in foggy conditions

Don't see how you could get them confused.

They have a good space in between. Surely if you saw bright red you would slow down anyway as think the car was stopped.

I'm sure my 240 had 2 rear fog lights. Its due it's MOT end of October and I'll see what the MOT man says.

James.

Looking good James ! I'm just wondering if the A/C tensioner you need will still be attached to my spare engine ?? I'll perhaps pop over soon to take a look

Quite likely, unless compressor, alternator have already been removed or your spare engine, never had AC.

That would be great, thanks.

My 240s ALL had 2 rear fog lamps - estates and saloons. On the first one the rear fogs were wired in such a fashion that they could be selected with withe either side/ dip/main or DRLs - useful for tail-gaters.

MOT suggests only the offside (or single centre) fog light is mandatory

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-insp...ical-equipment

If it was foggy and you could only see the rear lamps of the car in front of you, not the rear of the car, and you thought it was brake lights, you haul on the brakes and the truck behind you ploughs through your rear window.

The MOT doesn't say anything against having two, so each to their own. I prefer to keep the nearside one as a spare bulb holder!

I did remove alternator and compressor but I think tensioner could still be there

I'll perhaps nip over to yard tomorrow
