Hi StatusRed

Yes the hoses for 302 are longer than for the 280 discs.

Critical Bill mentions
286mm 15" and I will change them to 305mm 16"
because he has a Phase 2, which has a different brake setup.

Steve

So 15" for 280 and 16" for 302? I'm planning on upgrading to 302 in the future, so would want 16". Will the 16"s work with the 280 setup or will they get hung up on something/worn/etc.

I'm not planning to change the rear lines as they look fine (curiously I notice that they're hard lines directly to the calipers, rather than flexible rubber hoses).

I'll get some 16" front hoses then, cheers guys. I am assuming the 16" hoses are the longer ones compared to the 15" ones?
That is because the flexible hoses are inboard on the delta links.

Two solid lines come along the body to the rear. Two flexible hoses then go to the nearside delta link; two solid lines then go from there - one to the nearside hub and the other along the delta link towards the off side. A flexible hose then goes from one delta link to the other and a solid line to the offside caliper. Hence solid lines to the caliper and three flexible hoses in all.

Update:

The three hoses are all the same part number and fit S,V and C70. There are two different hoses depending on chassis number, so obviously there were changes during the production runs.

My 1997MY (R-reg) V70 2.5TDI has the single hose setup on the rear axle with just one line that splits into two lines at a T-piece on the axle beam.

My 1998MY (S-reg) V70 2.5 B2525FS has the two-line setup. so something must have happened to require the totally split rear lines. It's more logical this latter way (ABS separate circuits to each of the rear wheels), but it also makes me think that the ABS control structures must be quite different at the front of the car underbonnet.

Despite a single-line brake hydraulic circuit, the TDI has separate ABS sensors for each rear wheel.....

The complete braking system is different right from the master cylinder! if you check out the pipe sizes leaving the master cylinder to the abs unit they are the same size on the later models & on the early ones the rear line was smaller than the front line!

4 & 5 line kits!

So having taken in the information shared, I could not easily find the 5 line kits that some C70 models have but, most online retail places all only list 4 line kits.

I've been buying my braking stuff from Larkspeed for years and decided to see if they also do lines;

I've provided a link below, all makes and models are on the list including Volvo's and 4 and 5 line kits as mentioned!

That looks a good price but it's a shame they don't just do the 2 fronts - I noticed my C70 has 5 lines but I only want to fit braided hoses at the front.
