Blimey Don - what is there to negotiate on that M14 studding? It's like a banana and that takes some doing unless it's sub-standard metal!

They should either offer a replacement or refund, the tool as it stands at present is not suitable for purpose.

I don’t know my own strength as I said negotiations are ongoing. That first bush must have been well and truly stuck, it released with such a bang my mate jumped a foot in the air

If anything that should have either stratched the bar or stripped the threads, not bent the thing!

Where did you get it from?

That's the lead weight they hid in the packaging!

I had a set of exhaust pipe expanders from fleabay once, heavy things, broke on first use. Also had a vice from fleabay, that broke the first time it was used in anger and then a few days later, literally just shattered when i wasn't even touching it!

I now have another vice, bought secondhand from fleabay but it's already about 60 years old, has a few battle scars but is still solid (in more weighs than one - oops, didn't mean the weight pun but it's apt so i'll leave it!) and works better than the el-cheapo Chinese import thing did.

Yep Chinese tools should be left well alone...... my Rekord vice is as least as old as me, and in better nick as well

The Woden vice i've got now is the grand-daddy of the Record vice, literally. I hadn't heard of Woden before i bought it (except the Norse God) so did some research.

Long story short, two brothers set up and/or bought out Woden Tools making among other things, vices. They split and in about 1963, one brother went back to near where they both started before they moved with the acquisition of Woden, subsequent merger into Woden Tools and he started making vices to an old Woden design called ................. wait for it.................. Record vices.

Then the tables turned full circle and the brother who started Record bought out his Woden brother and merged and they all became Record vices.

It is fairly well expected to the bolt to bend. The bushes can often start to twist when being pressed in/out and that will bend
