IGN time
Quick note as I go to it. I think it’s probably distributor as well. Remote ignition switch would be handy right now. Maybe I’ll rig one up. I likely tweaked the floats when draining the cups several times.
It would be great to have a local resource but Connecticut is too far. Today I had to spend $20+ and 3.5 hours to drive 15 miles into NJ. They have to pay me for that and I still complain about it! Thanks, the input is plenty enough to earn gratitude |

Running
She starts right up now. I set to 10 TDC and pulled the plug and put it on the valve cover, connected to the distributor in the location I have worked with. Turned ignition on, turned it a few times until I got spark. I couldn't get it every time. I was anticipating so much I jumped the first time, losing the spot! I couldn't repeat it so I turned off for a few minutes, talked to some gawkers and then had it.
After I tightened down and put things back, turned the ignition key and she started right up. I am glad for that. It sounds quite good. Though I am afraid there is something to immediately address. I am starting a new thread for that. The ignition is resolved. Carbs had nothing to do with this. I have started a few times with no problem. Thanks again. If you want more, you know where to look |

Perhaps you could consider fitting a new high performance coil ? If you have the car running switch on and let run for a while If the coil gets very hot then that is probably one of your problems.

The little warranty coin is installed on an engine after a rebuild. The idea is that if you overheat your engine, it will fall off. (info given to me by my local machine shop a few years ago)
I have found that you often need to force fuel into the fuel pump with an Amazon by building air pressure in the tank. An alternative would be to jack up the rear of the car and let fuel flow into the line through gravity. Disconnect the fuel line at the carbs and check for flow from the pump, it's an easy thing to check once the Amazon is ass up. |
