Default Steel wheel bolt holes

Exciting stuff, this. The wide steel rims on my car are from the '60's, and very nice they are too. The problem is that the wheels have been on and off so many times that the stud holes are slightly enlarged, and in a couple of cases the wheel nuts are pretty much pulling through the hole. Collectively the wear across all 5 holes on each wheel means that it is very difficult to centre the wheels properly, resulting in vibration. Does anyone know of shouldered wheel nuts or similar, or have another suggestion as to how to answer this? Thanks.

I've had to throw a couple of wheels away due to this problem. They were just standard wheels so I feel your pain. Realistically I don't think you'll be able to save yours.

I had a similar problem on my 444. I put some washer,s behind the nuts and slowly tightened them until they formed the shape of the hole. They have been on a few years now with no problems.

Dave;

I have trouble believing how that the thick conical surface could get so worn/thin/deformed? that you fear Wheelnuts might pull through...but if that is indeed the really the case, I'm with Derek, and would say replacement of the Wheel is the only option (...check your Lugnut torque and lube that surface just a bit!)...I do recommend a touch of graphite grease on stud threads and those conical surfaces, and having ANYTHING like a washer between Lugnuts and Wheel absolutely scares me!

Stud thread is 1/2" UNF as I recall...

Frequent abuse with an unregulated air operated wheel nut gun won't do your wheels any favours. Inspect your wheels. There will be someone out there who finds sharp edges to the holes.

I discovered this when I got my car first. Some of the nuts were pulling through the holes, looked scary! Dumped them in the end.

There is such a thing as wobble nuts (https://hpdwheels.com/products/pcd-adjusting-nuts).
Would I use them, absolutely not.
Perhaps safer (if you must keep the wheels) is to weld the holes up, heat treat/stress relieve and redrill the PCD
