XC 90 2.9 t6 surging under hard acceleration

Hi all

I'm new to forum.

I've had the xc90 for around two months now, it's been good up until now. When accelerating hard it's boosts then holds back, then boosts then holds and so on.

I'm sure it's been covered on here but can anyone help? Has anyone else had this problem.

No faults codes in the system. It's drives fine any other time until you put your foot to the floor

Any help would be great.

Hi,

I've got an S80 T6, same engine, lower car, two wheel drive.

I had the same problem, it turned out to be the Boost Control Valve.

Had me baffled at first though!

It's a small valve fastened to the side of the air filter box, with 3 small hoses attatched to it, usually made by Pierburg.

I replaced mine with a genuine one from Volvo, not too expensive, about £40 if memory serves.

Rufe on here offers a superb service on genuine parts, with a small discount for VOC forum members.
