Mine had software 1100 and map 16.30.04. The car complained about the map being the wrong region before.

Now I still have software 1100, but the map is now 18.30.03. Perhaps Volvo uploaded the correct region number this time.

Note that I had to use the format command from the command prompt in Windows 10 to re-format my USB to work properly (already in the computer). I made the slow and comprehensive formatting experience. It took an hour or so, wading through all these bytes in the USB stick.

But then installing the software on the stick was no problem, and it was also recognized by the car after a few seconds. Sitting by itself in the USB socket in the car.

Yes that's the map version currently running on my system.

I've just tried with a second USB stick, same failure for the car to see it. I can plug my old iPod into the USB socket, & it's seen immediately as as media device, so the port's OK.

I'll take this up with the dealer when the car goes in later this week.

A bit of dangerous straw clutching here; would it be possible to completely delete the existing map and see if the system will then look for the update to install it to fill the void? We know that the USB socket will accept data for other systems in the car and that it's just the map section of the Sat Nav which does not connect to the socket. Or could I end up with a completely non functioning sat nav which has no map at all! You can tell I'm really desperate here!

I know Volvo discovered some problems with that software update, which allows map updates to be done via USB memory instead of a pack of DVDs. They even removed that accessory from their web page for a while, before the issues were sorted out.
Have you had your car serviced at a Volvo garage, i.e. had your car's software package updated after the initial install of the map loading software?

It has been serviced by the local main Volvo dealer since they installed the new sat nav with the up to date software that allows map updating via the USB and I have updated the maps once using the USB. Nick (Cubbington) is sending me the loaded USB with which he updated his map from the one I currently have to the latest and we will then see if the problem is in my USB or in my Sensus software.

I've solved mine. I was downloading the wrong maps. There are two Sensus ones, & I needed the older ones on the right-hand side of the screen, not the newer ones on the left.

The download is "Sensus Update SPA (Europe)" the 2010 one, not "Sensus Update MCA (Europe)", the 2013 one.

The files & directories in the root should be these:

05.CMP DICVCE56.KWI KGRPDAT.KWI PCT256D.KWI STDMAP01.zz1
ALLDATA.KWI DN KPCT256.KWI PCT2DAT.KWI STDVCE.zz0

Volvo run a confusing website. Well, confusing to me. I originally downloaded the MCA download, then I tried the RTI download and now I'm in the process of downloading the SPA edition. My confusion revolves around the fact that my 2012 had a brand new Sat Nav unit fitted in 2016 which left me not knowing exactly how to define the system I had. I assumed that if the unit was a 2016 unit with the latest software, then it should be treated as a 2016 car, but this is not the case. It is not to be treated as a 2013 car either but possibly as a 2010 car. I really don't mind as long as I can load up to date maps. Let's hope that this third attempt will achieve that.

If you have the floating console with the number pad then:
a) If it has a diagram of a globe on the button under MyCar it is 2013.
b) No globe it is 2010.

If you have the big glass console then it is 2016.
