Default Volvo s80 d5 2007 heater blowing cold air

Hi all I’m in need of some help, my heaters in my Volvo 280 d5 2007 only blow cold air, I’m in need of some guidance please on to what I need to change/ look at before taking it to a garage

Most basic things first has it got the right level of coolant in it

What's the temp gauge doing, I assume you'd have said something if it was above or below the middle

When the engine is up to temp locate the two black pipes at the back / middle ish of the engine bay that go into the bulkhead, do both of those feel warm (i.e is hot water flowing through your heater matrix)

It's possible the heater matrix is blocked, can be be flushed by disconnecting those hoses carefully (don't snap the clips) and hosing through with water till comes out clean

Depending on what type of heater panel you have sometimes there's a temp sensor on that panel which gets clogged with dust but again careful cleaning it out people often break the sensor

Or the motor that operates the hot / cold flap could have popped off its connector rod or stopped working I suppose
