Had several steering related issues with my 54 plate MY S60 D5 as follows:

Steering pulsates on corners, especially noticeable on roundabouts.
Solution: Holden Volvo in Norwich replaced the Steering rack.
Fault remedied, however incredibly heavy steering when parking.
Returned vehicle 3 times before they agreed that there was an issue with PAS pump. Replaced this but steering feels heavy for all speeds.
It may take a few miles for this to loosen up to normal operating standards.

Anti Skid Service Required:

I ran a diagnostic myself with confirmed readings were out of permitted range for the ABS sensors 1 & 2 near bulk head. Deleted codes and re read which then returned sensor 1 fault.
Took the car into Volvo and they replaced Sensor 1. I drove 2 miles down the road after picking the car up and the 'Anti Skid' warning returned. I'm assuming this could actually be the ABS unit and not the sensors as originally repaired.

As for wheel locking nuts if you lose the locking key or damage it there is no way you can get a replacement locking key unless you have the white piece of paper in the service pack with locking nut code! Without this piece of paper volvo cannot help you even if you have chassis nut or reg number .. They can sell you a new set but no skeleton locks to get yours off so good advice is get a spare if you have that piece of paper or get them off and ditch them and replace with wheel nut.. Otherwise you have to butcher them off and can damage your wheel!! Bmw mercedes etc have skeleton sets to match the lockers if you get stuck really dont know why volvo cant do the same!

Dont lose your keys for your volvo your locksmith cannot decipher the codes only the dealer . The fob and key needs programming to the car and half hour labour at dealer and price of fob and key comes to 250 quid and that was trafe discounted from 280 pounds so make sure you have your spare handy ! Again locksmith can do merc ford bmw renault bentley ferrari but not volvo .. Specialised software needed!!

Problem with 2000 volvo lockers onwards theres no room to whack a socket over them without damaging wheel i had to weld a wheel nut onto the locker and turn it off luckily without any damage !!

If you gear stick feels like it's being pushed into the chewing gum in every gear, open your bonnet and

1. Pry out the two joints from the gear-box levers
2. Stick the straw from the WD40 spray into the rubber boot of the cable housing which goes to the gear stick and spray in some WD40
3. Clean both parts of the separated joints and apply some grease.
4. Pop the joints back on …done

This should give you a bit more precise and smoother gear changes. You might need to remove the air filter housing to get better access...

Actually, you can find the car maker, and email them a copy of car reg and a picture of the nut face -they will post a new key - think it cost me about £15. Sorry, but no details of who they where-try Google.

So a couple of days ago I got myself an S60 D5 on an 02 plate. A couple of faults came up on day 1, and I searched this (and other) forums for help. Both problems are common, with plenty of owners asking for help; but if they ever found a solution, they didn't want to share. But not me. I've found the solutions and I'm going to blab.
Problem 1.
Power steering fluid reservoir leaking.
Very common on older cars, with reports of leakage from the cap, the pipes, and even the seams. Mine was losing about half a litre over 200 ish miles, and looked like it was leaking from everywhere; the top, the pipes, the seams; all covered in fluid. Using Newtons long established theory- I started at the top. I removed the rubber gasket under the cap, turned it over and put it back. It now holds pressure and doesn't leak. The fluid on the seams and pipes is what ran down until met an obstacle, where it settled. This may be a temporary fix, but I've had a temporary fence for nearly 20 years and it's still holding up.

Problem 2
Drivers door not locking.

All the others work, but not the drivers door lock. So...
I pulled the surround from the pop up lock and sprayed a load of 3 in 1 oil in the hole. Problem solved.

Now y'all owe me two solutions. When I find the problems, I'll be back to collect.
