A marvelous selection of photos and most helpful. Haynes manual does not show this style of set-up, even though it is supposed to cover models up to 2004

Idont know what bulbs you need for the heater panel on a phase 2 but i have just replaced the 3 bulbs behind the head light switch/airduct the bulbs you need are.

RING AUTOMTIVE No R509TDBK

OR

LUCAS AUTOMOTIVE No LLB286TFB1

Don't forget to keep the blue rubber cap of the old bulb to put on the new one.the bulbs can be viewed on the company's websites and the lucas bulbs cost me 94p each including vat,a big saving over volvo prices. When one of the heater bulbs blow i will try and cross match that one.it would be nice if there was a data base on here for the phase 2 volvo bulbs.

Finding this topic is timely for me as one of the bulbs behind the heater panel went today! I also didn't realize that the headlight switches and the info centre were supposed to light up.

Is there any posts on how to replace the info centre bulb?

I completed this job today after seeing this thread. Took about 30 - 40 mins for both dash parts. Many thanks OP!
I never realised I should have had all this light since I bought the V40 with a dark dash in the first place. Now illuminated like the Starship Enterprise!

One question, do the blue rubber caps on the bulbs serve a purpose? If I were to remove them to gain a brighter light, would this cause a problem?

A question for the OP

What colour are the bulbs that you got from rufe? I need to do the light switch panel as its completly dark but my heater panel is an orange colour instead of the same green as the radio and light switches, Would really like to get everything a matching green.

The lights you get from Rufe have a blue cover over them. It is important that you leave this cover on to get the green effect lighting, if you remove it you get a yellow/orange light instead.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Recently become the proud owner of a V40 and delighted to discover this forum. Many thanks!

So, I decided to have a go at replacing my heater panel lights. The fan speed control bit was dark and decided to change all three while I was there. Sucess I thought, but the fan speed area is still in the dark. The other two are still fine. Any ideas or was it not the bulb?!

Cheers, Gra
