I have disconnected both sunroof drain tubes from the rubber things in the corners of the windscreen. The tubes themselves look dirty but not blocked. As a temporary measure I connected the bottom ends of both tubes to plastic bottles. After some rain last night I was amazed at how much water was in the bottles. Anyway, what I really want to know is, those rubber things in the corners which I believe are elbow shaped. Two questions:
1. What is connected to the other side of the elbow bend. 2. I think they are blocked so how can I clear them? Poking something in the end isn't going to do much because of the bend. I am at a loss as to what to do apart from leaving the down tubes connected to plastic bottles. I am sick to death of sucking water off the front carpets with a carpet shampooer. Any help would really be appreciated Brian

You can pull them out with long nosed pliars and snip the sound trap off which is where the blockage will be. Just nashe sure to get a good grip right the way down on then so they don't tear.

Thanks, suppose it is relatively easy to get it out but not getting it back in? I take it that the 'sound trap' is the crimped end?
Is it possible (or advisable), to get rid of that rubber thing and put an extension on the end of the existing drain tube and shove that through the hole where the rubber thing was?

When you put the sound trap back in spray it in WD40 or PTFE lube or it's a pig to refit.

Hi, I have a 1998 V70. The sunroof blind will not close completely despite pulling it extremely hard. It is about 2 inches short of full closure. Any ideas as to what might be stopping it. thanks jack

Thanks to everyone. I am fed up of wet carpets so will get rid of those rubber elbows and just go straight through. Maybe putting a rubber extension on.

Just poured some water into the corner of my open sunroof and water was dripping from under the headlining. Removed the roof handle and sunvisor to gain better access to the rooflining. The pipe going down to the windscreen corner is going to a funny shaped plastic thing which is then connected to a short piece of tube to somewhere in the roof. Anyway, I thought that the water was coming from where the down pipe is connected to this funny shaped pipe. On further investigation found that the water was coming though the roof. I find this a little strange. Closed the sunroof and poured water over it and nothing came through the roof. Now I appreciate that nobody in their right mind would have the sunroof open when it is raining but why would water be coming through the roof? Another design fault? I have ordered some clear tube (8mm I/D) from eBay so will replace the downpipe and the short piece connected to that funny pipe.
If anyone has any comments as to why water would come through the roof I would be very interested. Thanks Brian
