Question Driver Side Indicator Problem!

Hi all,

First post, and hoping someone could shed some light on an issue I have with my 2011 XC90.

A couple of days ago, the internal message screen reported a fault with the driver side indicator, and the other bulbs were going double speed. Upon checking the car, the rear one was flashing, but was at double speed, as to be expected. I didn't actually then view the front bulb, just assuming it was that one at fault.

I changed the bulb in the front indicator, put the headlight back in and turned on the indicator, and the same fault shows on the internal messaging screen. Upon examining the car, the front indicator is now on permanently, and the rear, and door mirror indicators are still flashing double speed.

I'll be honest and have no clue what this is. can anyone shed any light? Is this a common fault? Has anyone come across anything similar. It is almost as if there another feed to this bulb. I have looked at all the wiring in this area, and seems fine.

I wish I had looked at the front of the car when the fault first arose to see if the old bulb was on permanently before I changed it. I just saw the rear one was still flashing so assumed it was the front.

Any help is much appreciated, as this has really stumped me.

Thank you in advance.

Paul

Did you change the correct bulb? Check the drivers manual to see which bulb is which - you may be looking at the side marker light.

Hi Greg,

Thank you for your quick response.

It is definitely the indicator. Its the bulb behind the orange lens within the cluster.

Thanks

The side marker is also behind an orange lens. The indicator is below the main beam.

I will take another look then Greg. I was sure there was only the one bulb behind the orange lens, and the bulb under then main beam was the side lights? I will pop out to my car at lunch and check again.

Thanks

Turn on your hazard lights, which illuminates all indicator bulbs at the same time

Walk around the vehicle and observe the indicators - you should see 2 front, 2 side and 2 rear indicators blinking.

If the hazards blink the bulbs but the indicator stalk does not, it is not a bulb problem, but more likely a CEM problem.
