Default 3rd February Cadbury World and Patrick Collection Visit

Choc-o-holic Motoring Enthusiasts!

Have we got a treat for you! Make a note in your diary – SUNDAY 3RD FEB. 2008.

We are combining a tour around the “Patrick Collection” in Birmingham with a visit to Cadbury World just a short distance away.

The Patrick Collection is a small privately owned family collection of about 50 cars displayed in two exhibition halls. The collection spans 100 years of motoring history and includes on-going restoration projects. As well as the cars there is a small display covering the family’s excursion into early air travel (1930s – 1950s) from Birmingham’s Elmdon airport.

The large collection of period artifacts and memorabilia evoke the age to which the cars belong and bring back many memories. They also have one of the original blue Police boxes used by the Doctor during the filming of the series ‘Doctor Who’.

This isn’t a ‘stand-behind-the-ropes’ kind of museum, you are allowed to get really close to the cars and, in some cases, may even be able to actually sit in them.

We will be offered morning refreshments at the Patrick Collection before moving on to Cadbury World.
We thought we could have lunch at the Café at Cadbury World – or elsewhere if you prefer – and then be ready to begin our tour at 2pm.
The normal price for this tour is usually £13 each BUT as a special group rate to VOC members we are being charged just £4.50 per person including children.

There are several elements to the tour.
In the ‘Bournville experience’ you have the chance to:-
discover the ethos behind the Cadbury factory and the Bournville village
design a chocolate box
respond to the ‘Suggested Rules of Health’ and take a look through
interactive binoculars

In ‘Essence’ you can:-
discover the secret behind ‘Dairy Milk’ and create your own individual concoction choosing from a range of fillings which is then covered in liquid chocolate!!

In ‘Purple Planet’ you can:-
see yourself showered in ‘virtual’ chocolate
chase runaway Crème Eggs
plant a cocoa seed on the ‘virtual’ cocoa farm and add water, sunshine and shade to produce the best crop

And after all that you can visit the Largest Ever Cadbury Shop to stock up with supplies for the journey home!

If you are interested in joining us then please PM Andy Rowlands and add your name in a post.

This is bordering on cruel and unusual punishment, posting a visit like this with a unique museum AND a trip round Cadbury World thrown in.
All this to someone who isn't allowed chocolates any more... shame on you Iain!!

To be serious, although I couldn't bare to go on the trip, it does sound like a great day out for the family, and a bargain price too.

Should get lots of takers, I'm jealous!!!

Yes please - two places.

When it's all sorted can someone post further details - addresses / start times (as I'm coming from Windsor might need an earlier start).

Thanks
Tony
