I should have thought of that, in the mid 70's I was involved in the design and use of such circuits for motor control.

I was involved with electric vehicles, they weighed 1 Ton, half of which was the lead acid batteries, cost of a battery in 1975 was £1000. Floor cleaning vehicles.

Years before that I worked as an engineer for Janspeed.

Replacement dim-dip controller received, was a used one, £7.50 inc. postage off ebay. The connection tabs were a bit corroded, cleaned them up and put some WD40 on them. Fitted unit to car, headlamps work correctly, including dim-dip.
